Les Carillons (The Chimes)

This participatory sound sculpture was installed within a decommissioned rice silo for the 2015 SITE Houston exhibition. Les Carillons celebrates the social nature of music, drawing upon the history of carillons and other instruments known to toll in public plazas. Viewer activation is critical for Les Carillons; without them, the sculpture remains inert, unable to achieve its full potential. When activated, the cans and buckets clang and resound throughout the complex, aided by the architecture of the silo.
